AYP has successfully trained marginalized youth to increase their incomes and serve marginalized communities through yoga since 2007. AYP also fosters leadership, service, and the Africa wellbeing industry. AYP piloted an academy transformation in 2016 to expand how many marginalized youth it could reach; with around 100 yoga teachers currently enrolled, it has trained over 200. The Academy includes both yoga training and academic modules aimed at building business and leadership skills, along with individual confidence and interpersonal skills.
AYP uses a “learn and earn” model to train marginalized youth. With your support, AYP can create a more fully developed Academy to enhance the entrepreneurship and income potential in marginalized youth enabling them to lead the wellbeing industry in Nairobi and across Africa.
Theory of Change:
If marginalized youth complete the Africa Yoga Project’s (AYP) Academy – which amplifies AYP’s use of yoga to increase incomes, service/civic engagement, and builds the wellbeing industry – those youth will lead the industry in Africa.
