JOYCE MURUGI
Habari- my name is Joyce! I have been teaching yoga through the Africa Yoga Project since 2011 and have loved every second of it! As I lead my classes, I focus on bringing joy and light so that my students can be mindful. I have experience teaching individuals of all ages, although I specialize in teaching children. I also have experience teaching children with special needs, and tend to thrive doing so because it brings me such joy and happiness. It is with these unique individuals when I see that I can fully use the skills and the tools that the powerful Baptiste Yoga has given to me. Through my expertise of practice, my goal is to give the same to my special needs "yogi" children. I want to spread deep-rooted love to my students by providing practice that leads to empowerment and elevation. I feel accomplished when my students feel accomplished. By providing circumstances for my students to play, be curious, and grow, new possibilities for them emerge. All of my attention is focused on my students when in practice, regardless of age, ability, or social location.
My yoga journey began six years ago when Catherine Njeri and Patrick Kiragu introduced me to the transformational practice. My first class was incredibly difficult, but Patrick kept telling me the more I practiced the better I would become. It took me a whole year to be able to assist classes at Sarakasi. Throughout this journey I have learned about myself and was able to meet many different types of people-for which I am grateful.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or inquiries to teach private or group classes!
