DONATAH AWOUR
Donatah is a yoga instructor and has been practicing and teaching yoga for three years now. She took her yoga teacher training in Nairobi with Africa Yoga Project in 2013 led by a senior Baptiste teacher Paige Elenson. Donatah was inspired by her cousin, who is also a yoga instructor, to teach Baptiste yoga. She admired the way her cousin interacted with people, her healthy way of being and flexibility among other things, this made Donatah curious to learn more about yoga and that’s when she decided to take yoga classes which led her to a lot of discoveries about her own body. Donatah has practiced different yoga styles for example Baptiste power yoga, Ashtanga, Acro yoga and loves to experiment on different styles of yoga in order to explore her practice and teaching. Donatah is always grounded and composed in her classes and likes to listen to her students and her student’s preferences are her priorities.
Ever since Donatah started practicing and teaching yoga she has discovered tremendous growth not only in her physical body but also in other areas of her life for example she has discovered inner peace and joy within herself, learned to appreciate people just the way they are without judging them, she is more flexible and has learned to accept herself no matter what others may think of her. Donatah has learned to be of service to other people by teaching free yoga classes to her community and being there for other people whenever she can. Finally what Donatah sees as possible in other people is that anyone can achieve their dreams as long as they believe and work hard on them rather than looking down on themselves and believing what people think or say about them and she is up to something bigger than herself to her community in that she would like to use yoga to transform youths in her community just the same way it did to her. Namaste!
